Abstract
The article analyzes the main methodological difficulty in assessing the economic efficiency of an early crisis risk detection system in small business entities – the fact that its effect takes the form of losses that did not occur, i.e. prevented losses. The author develops an assessment methodology based on the concept of expected financial losses, which includes comparing scenarios without and with the system, calculating the net economic effect, the benefit-cost ratio, net present value, the cost of diagnostic errors and the break-even point of the system. The application of the methodology is demonstrated using a hypothetical small service enterprise under three scenarios.
