Abstract
Abstract. Introduction. Maintaining optimal microclimatic conditions in greenhouses throughout the year requires substantial thermal energy consumption. Particularly during periods of low outdoor temperatures, increased heat losses through the greenhouse envelope lead to higher energy demand for greenhouse heating systems.
Materials and Methods. This study developed a structural design for an underground heat exchange device intended for a greenhouse measuring 5 × 4 m.
Results. The proposed system is designed to recover excess heat accumulated in the upper section of the greenhouse and transfer it to an underground soil-based thermal energy storage unit. The system is intended to operate in two modes: thermal energy storage and the subsequent recovery of stored heat for greenhouse heating.
Conclusions. The proposed heat exchanger design enables excess thermal energy from the greenhouse air to be transferred to underground soil storage and subsequently recovered for greenhouse heating.
