Abstract
Abstract. Introduction. Achieving comprehensive wastewater treatment and the energy self-sufficiency of treatment facilities is one of the pressing issues in modern environmental and engineering fields.
Materials and methods. The study evaluated the structural and energy performance of a hybrid system consisting of solar photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) panels, a low-voltage direct current electro-bioreactor (e-MBR), and an IoT/AI-based intelligent control module. The degree of wastewater purification from organic and biogenic substances was determined using standard spectrophotometric methods. Membrane fouling and transmembrane pressure (TMP) dynamics were studied under an electric field, while the system's energy balance and intelligent control efficiency were evaluated using neural networks and software modeling.
Results. Research and computational results showed that the intelligent solar-electrobiomembrane system removed 96-98% of organic pollutants (COD and BOD) and 88-94% of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds. The application of the electric field reduced the rate of transmembrane pressure increase by 2.3 times and extended membrane service life by 60%. Furthermore, PV/T solar panels covered 78% of the system’s electricity demand, and automatic control via AI algorithms reduced specific energy consumption by 32%.
Conclusion. The proposed structural solutions and intelligent algorithms serve to transform wastewater treatment plants into autonomous resource recovery hubs and resolve energyconservation challenges.
