Abstract
Abstract. Introduction. This study investigates the possibility of estimating solar radiation in near-real time over Uzbekistan and adjacent regions using data from the Meteosat-9 geostationary satellite (MSG-2, IODC orbit).
Methods and materials. Based on the integration of multi-channel observations from the SEVIRI sensor and atmospheric parameters derived from CAMS data, total solar radiation was calculated at a 15-minute temporal resolution.
Results. The model results were validated against observations from 22 meteorological stations located across Uzbekistan for clear-sky days. Statistical evaluation (MAE, RMSE, MAPE, R2) demonstrated the high accuracy and robustness of the proposed approach. In all cases, the correlation was very high (R = 0.98–0.99), while the overall range of the mean absolute error was MAE = 26–64 W/m².
Conclusions. Spatial analysis revealed that the highest radiation values are mainly characteristic of southern and desert regions, while relatively lower values are observed in mountainous areas.
