Abstract

This study investigated the effect of sowing date and sowing scheme on yield structure elements in the irrigated lands of the Kashkadarya region in the chickpea varieties Zumrad and Malhotra. The studies were conducted in 2020-2022 with three different sowing dates (February 10-15, February 20-25, and March 1-5) and three different sowing schemes (60×6, 60×9, and 60×12 cm). According to the experimental results, changing the sowing date and expanding the feeding area had a significant effect on the growth, development, and formation of yield elements of the chickpea plant. The highest results for both varieties were recorded in the 60×12 cm scheme, planted between February 10-15. In these variants, the number of pods per plant, the number of grains, the weight of grains, and the weight of 1000 grains were higher than in other variants. With the delay of sowing date, a gradual decrease in yield structure indicators was observed. In the cross-section of varieties, the Zumrad variety prevailed over the Malhotra variety in all variants. According to the results of the study, in order to obtain high and high-quality grain yields from chickpeas in the conditions of irrigated lands of the Kashkadarya region, sowing on February 10-15 and using a 60×12 cm planting scheme were found to be appropriate.
