Abstract
The article comprehensively analyzes the scientific and methodological foundations for determining the unemployment rate in Kashkadarya region, the statistical indicators for 2024–2025, and modern assessment methods. The study was carried out on the basis of monthly and quarterly labor market data from the Uzbekistan Statistics Agency (2019–2025), reports of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Labour Organization (ILO) methodology, monitoring results of the regional employment department for 2024–2025, as well as a survey study covering 1,240 respondents (III quarter of 2024). The analysis shows that the official unemployment rate in the region reached 8.6 percent in the first quarter of 2025, and a positive dynamic is being maintained. However, the expanded LU4 indicator, which takes into account hidden unemployment and underemployment, remains at the level of 20.3–22.8 percent. Youth unemployment (ages 15–29) stands out as a structural problem at 19.7 percent.
